Located in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood of São Paulo, this mid-20th-century house already shone even before its renovation. The spaces were quite large and bright, and the internal patio connected the social areas. In the living room, the house's original staircase was displayed exuberantly.
However, the new owners felt they could improve some things in the house to better suit their lifestyle.
One of the most important requests was for the kitchen to be more integrated with the social areas. In addition, they wanted a swimming pool connected to the living room.
Upstairs, there were originally 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms shared by the 3 bedrooms. The clients preferred to have 1 large master suite with a very spacious bathroom and walk-in closet, 1 guest suite, and the third bedroom would be transformed into an office and TV room.
For the ground floor, we proposed opening the kitchen to the patio, creating a greater connection between the social and service areas. In the remodeled kitchen, with new countertops and cabinets, we sought a warm and cozy environment that wouldn't clash significantly with the existing house's architecture.
We designed a large swimming pool with a sunbathing area and, together with landscape designer Gigi Botelho, redesigned all the gardens outside the house.
Upstairs, based on the clients' requests, we proposed a very generous suite for the owners, with a bathroom integrated into the bedroom, just as they had dreamed. The guest suite and the TV room were also redesigned.
A very important point for this project is that we didn't want to radically interfere with the original design of the house, but rather make precise, surgical interventions that delicately transformed the spaces to suit the lifestyle of the new inhabitants of this home.
